Butler Township Police Warn Public About Telephone Scam

Butler Township Police would like to warn public, especially the elderly, of a telephone scam being conducted in our area. The suspects are contacting person via landline telephone posing as IRS agents demanding immediate payment for back taxes and threatening imprisonment if demands are not met. Suspects are demanding that a green dot card be purchased to conduct the money transfer.

The suspects are using the following alias', Kevin Brown and Mark Jackson. Both names are easily found when researched online and are associated with the IRS.

Please pass this information on to your family and friends, especially the elderly as they appear to be the most vulnerable based on similar reports with FBI. Anyone having additional information or reports similar in nature, please contact Butler Township Police Dept @ 570-875-4131
