No Injuries in Crash Suspected to be Caused by DUI

No one was injured in a crash Sunday morning that is suspected to have been caused by a woman allegedly driving under the influence.


According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, a crash occurred on Route 443 in Walker Township around 9:45am, Sunday morning.

Police say the crash occurred when  vehicle driven by Danielle Evans, 31, of Auburn was travelling westbound and another vehicle driven by Robert Digilio, 70, of Tamaqua was travelling eastbound.

Evans' vehicle reportedly crossed into the eastbound lane and struck Digilio's vehicle causing heavy damage to both vehicles.  Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

No injuries were reported in the crash.

Evans was suspected of driving under the influence, and was subsequently placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI.  She was then transported to Lehigh Valley South Hospital, Pottsville, for additional testing.

Fire personnel from Tamaqua assisted at the scene.
