Cressona Treasurer Charged with Stealing Over $400,000 from the borough

The treasurer for the borough of Cressona has been charged with stealing over $400,000.


According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, Erin Hossler, 48, of Pottsville was employed by the borough of Cressona since 2013.

Police say starting in January of 2015, Hossler, began making fraudulent purchases, transactions, and forging checks in the borough's name for her own benefit.

Lettich & Zipay, of Pottsville, assisting in the investigation by performing an audit found that between January 15, 2015 through May 25, 2018, $425,546.79 was stolen.

Network Associates, of Harrisburg completed a Forensic Audit of the transactions.

On Wednesday, November 14, 2018, Hossler was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Ferrier and committed her to Schuylkill County Prison on $10,000 straight cash bail.
