WEATHER ALERT: Flash Flood Watch Issued for Schuylkill County

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for Friday into Saturday.

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 2 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* A portion of central Pennsylvania, including the following areas, Adams, Columbia, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Juniata, Lancaster, Lebanon, Montour, Northern Lycoming, Northumberland, Perry, Schuylkill, Snyder, Southern Lycoming, Sullivan, Tioga, Union, and York.

* From 2 PM EDT this afternoon through Saturday morning

* A slow moving cold front will interact with a plume of deep tropical moisture to bring the potential for numerous heavy showers and thunderstorms, some of which could cause localized flash flooding where persistent training of the heavy rain occurs.

* Flooding of low lying and poor drainage areas is likely, as well as along some of the regional streams and creeks.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flash Flood Watch means there is a potential for Flash Flooding based on current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
