The first inspection that took place was on Vito's Coal Fire, located in Coal Creek Plaza on September 25, 2019. The restaurant received 17 violations and was considered "Out of Compliance", the report included based off the inspection and violations, the "Person in Charge" did not demonstrate adequate knowledge of the PA Food Code.
A follow up inspection was completed on October 3, 2019 where the restaurant received zero violations and was again considered "In Compliance".
The second restaurant was the Uma Hibachi Steakhouse also located in the Coal Creek Plaza, with an inspection that took place on October 8, 2019.
That report had shown that "rodent-like" droppings had been found inside a small outside dry storage shed among the other violations ruling the restaurant "Out of Compliance".
A follow up inspection on the previous report was completed on October 16, 2019 and the restaurant was deemed "In Compliance" only reporting back one violation of "Old Food Debris" in a deep fry area.
The PA Department of Agriculture performs regular inspections of "retail restaurants". Inspections are considered a 'snapshot' of the day and time of the inspection. An inspection conducted on any given day may not be representative of the overall, long-term cleanliness of an establishment. Also, at the time of the inspection, violations are recorded but are often corrected on site prior to the inspector leaving the establishment.
