Girardville Man Charged for Shenandoah Homicide

A Girardville man is in custody and has been charged for the murder of a Shenandoah woman on Sunday morning.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, the incident began around 6:00am at 106 South Catherine Street when Nathanial Kimmel, 22, of Girardville was lying in wait and attacked April Mahmod, 37, as she returned home from work.

Kimmel is an ex-boyfriend of Mahmod's.

Mahmod fled her home and ran to her neighbors at 104 South Catherine Street where Kimmel continued stabbing her multiple times on the front porch of the home.

Neighbors heard the attack and as they approached, Kimmel fled.

Mahmod died at the scene and was pronounced dead by Schuylkill County Deputy Coroner Andrew Szczyglak at 6:40am.

Authorities spent most of Sunday investigating the scene.

Kimmel was taken into custody several hours later.

Kimmel was arraigned on homicide charges by Magisterial District Judge Christina Hale and locked up in Schuylkill County Prison.
