Crash Knocks Out Power to Dozens of Homes near Ashland

A crash in Butler Township knocked out power to dozens of homes on Tuesday afternoon.

Just before 2:00pm Sunday, emergency personnel were dispatched to 79 Nater Street, Butler Township near Ashland for a motor vehicle accident involving a vehicle into a pole.

Fire and police arrived to find a van into a utility pole with wires down across Nater Street.

The incident caused 159 homes to lose power, and in an update as of 4:15pm, PPL was still at the scene working to restore power.

While repairs are being made, Nater Street is closed between Danny's Drive In and Germanville Road.

Butler Township Police said at the scene that the male driver of the van was not injured and lost control making the curve in the roadway.

Responding to the scene were the Butler Township Police, the Fountain Springs Fire Department, Lavelle Fire Department, and Friendship Fire Company from Englewood.

UPDATE (4:30pm) - We just heard some of the homes have had power restored.
