North Schuylkill and Shenandoah Valley School Districts Recognized by NAMM as "Best Communities for Music Education"

The NAMM Foundation, which celebrates the value and promotes the value of music education, has recognized two Schuylkill County school districts' music departments.

In all, 686 school districts from across the United States were recognized in 2021 by the organization as the "Best Communities in the nation for music education".

The award program recognizes outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students, and community leaders who have made music education part of a well-rounded education. Designations are made to districts and schools that demonstrate an exceptionally high commitment and access to music education.

Out of the over 600 recognized on the list, two are right here in Schuylkill County, one of those districts being the Shenandoah Valley School District.

"It’s truly an honor for our district to be selected for this prestigious honor. It speaks volumes to the wonderful students we have to work within our music program at Shenandoah Valley," said Shenandoah Valley Music Teacher and Band Director John P. Shoener.

The other was the North Schuylkill School District.

"We are super proud to work in a community that continuously supports the arts! We have fantastic students who constantly rise above the obstacles to create great music. I'm very proud of my colleagues who dedicate their time and craft every day." said North Schuylkill Music Teacher and Band Director William Lennox.
