Man in Custody After Armed Robbery near Pottsville on Friday

A North Carolina man was taken into custody Friday after robbing a bank near Pottsville.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, on Friday, May 14th, 2021 around 11:15am, Troopers along with officers from Saint Clair and Pottsville responded to the Wells Fargo Bank in the Pottsville Park Plaza in Norwegian Township for a report that the bank was just robbed.

The suspect had fled prior to police arriving and was described as a male with red hair, wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt.

At the scene, Pottsville Police found a male matching the description of the suspect behind the Weis Market.

The male, identified as Manasseh Nasa Corder, 29, of Greensboro, North Carolina, was taken into custody with further incident and found to be in possession of the stolen money totaling $1,126.57.

During an interview with Corder, he admitted to robbing the bank and told investigators that he was homeless.

Corder was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge David Plachko and locked up in Schuylkill County Prison unable to post $250,000 straight cash bail.

The Schuylkill Haven Barracks specifically thanked the officers from the Pottsville Police and Saint Clair Police for assisting with the incident.
