Victim Identified in Fatal Interstate 81 Crash in Schuylkill County

The Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville have released additional details including the victim's name in an overnight fatal crash in Schuylkill County.

According to Troopers, the crash occurred just after 1:30am in Kline Township near mile marker 138.8 in the northbound lanes of Interstate 81.

Ab investigation by police shows Jody Moffett, 52, of Fayetteville, North Carolina was travelling north in his Ford Explorer in the right hand lane and entered the left lane, then attempted to reenter the right lane and overcompensated.  His vehicle ended up rolling several times ejecting him from the vehicle.

Moffett was reported as not wearing his seatbelt.

Moffett was found dead upon arrival to the scene and was pronounced by a Schuylkill County Deputy Coroner.

Interstate 81 northbound was closed for almost 3 hours while the scene was cleared and investigated.

Assisting State Police at the scene were the McAdoo Fire Department, McAdoo Ambulance, Lehigh Valley Health EMS, Mahanoy City West End Fire and Rescue, Hometown and Delano Fire Police, PennDOT, and the Schuylkill County Coroner's Office.
