Over 5,000 Homes Without Power As Storms Pass Through Schuylkill County


Over 5,000 homes are reportedly without power in Schuylkill County Wednesday evening.

According to PPL, as of 9:30pm, 5,037 are in the dark as storms roll through.

The largest outages were reported in the Norwegian Township area with 2,035 homes followed by Pottsville with 1,267 and Tremont with 1,102.

Smaller outages have been reported in Hegins Township, Barry Township, North Manheim Township, Porter Township, and South Manheim Township.

There is no word on when power will be restored.

Trees, poles, and wires are reported to be down from the Hegins Area east through Minersville/Seltzer and into Pottsville.  Use caution if you are travelling through the area.
