Woman and Child Transported After Darkwater Crash on Route 61

A woman and child were reported to have suffered injuries over the weekend in a crash on Route 61.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, the crash occurred on Saturday, June 5th, 2021, just before 11:00am on Route 61 at the intersection with Darkwater Road in New Castle Township.

Troopers say the crash occurred as Brittany Harmer, 23, of Schuylkill Haven made a left hand turn onto Route 61 north from Darkwater Road.

As Harmer turned, she crossed into the path of Brian Dugan, 45, of Aristes was traveling south on Route 61, with Dugan impacting Harmer's driver side.

Both vehicles sustained disabling damage.

Harmer and a child in the vehicle both reported minor injuries and were transported to an area hospital.  An infant in the vehicle was not injured

Dugan and a teenage passenger reported no injuries.

Everyone involved was wearing a seatbelt.

Route 61 northbound was partially closed for approximately 45 minutes while the scene was cleared.

Assisting at the scene were the Saint Clair Fire Department, Schuylkill EMS, and Womer's Towing.
