Hegins Man Flees Pine Grove Township Crash

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, this crash occurred just before 5:00am, on Friday, October 8th, 2021 on Oak Grove Road near the intersection with 2 1/2 Mile Road in Pine Grove Township.

Troopers say, Bradley Merwine, 42, of Hegins, was driving his Mitsubishi Outlander on Oak Grove Road when he overcompensated a turn, went off the roadway and crash into a ditch and tree.

Merwine reportedly suffered minor injuries and fled the scene.  He will be cited for the crash.

Hatter's Auto Body assisted with towing the vehicle from the scene.

Deer Damages Vehicle Washington Township Crash

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, this crash occurred on Saturday, October 9th, 2021 around 11:20pm on Deturksville Road in Washington Township.

Troopers say the crash occurred in the area of 550 Deturksville Road when Rosa Castaldo, 21, of Asbury, NJ was driving a Dodge Durango east when a deer ran into the roadway.

Castaldo struck the deer causing disabling damage to the front of her vehicle.

Castaldo and her two passengers were not injured, but the vehicle had to be towed from the scene.

No Injuries Reported in Three Vehicle Collision in Pine Grove Township

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, this crash occurred on Friday, October 8th, 2021 around 4:00pm on Bethel Road(Route 501) near Mexico Road in Pine Grove Township.

Troopers say the crash occurred when a vehicle not involved in the crash applied its brakes to makes a left turn in front of Kelsey Hughes, 25, of Pine Grove.  Hughes applied her brakes and slowed in front of Michael Goff, 32, of Earleville, MD, who also slowed.

Goff was struck behind by Zachary Weaver, 26, of Myerstown, who then pushed Goff into Hughes.

No injuries were reported but Goff's vehicle sustained disabling front end damage and had to be towed from the scene.

The other two vehicles involved were able to be driven from the scene.
