Woman Involved in Hit and Run in New Philadelphia Faces DUI, Fleeing, and Firearms Charges

A woman involved in a hit and run in New Philadelphia last week is facing a slew of charges.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, on Monday, November 15th, 2021, Darion Turner, 26, of Reading was involved in a crash where she drove her vehicle into the rear of a Port Carbon man near the intersection of Valley Street and Ferndale Road in New Philadelphia.

Turner fled the scene in her vehicle and was later located and attempted to flee State Police.

A short pursuit ensued until she lost control and crashed.

Turner was taken into custody and found to be under the influence of alcohol.  A search of the vehicle led to the finding of a loaded firearm that was also reported stolen.

Turner now faces charges of fleeing or attempting to elude police, receiving stolen property, firearm not to be carried without a permit, accident involving damage to an attended vehicle, DUI, careless driving, failing to stop or render aid, reckless driving, and restriction on alcoholic beverages.
