Branchdale Man Assaults Police Officer at Scene of Shots Fired in Mahanoy City

A Branchdale man spent Christmas in Schuylkill County Prison after he assaulted a police officer in Mahanoy City.

According to Mahanoy City Police, on Saturday morning, around 5:00am, officers responded to the Rmusic21 Lounge at 128 East Centre Street for a report of shots fire.

The suspect that fired the shots fled the scene prior to police arriving but while law enforcement was securing the scene, Jared Yoder, 20, of Branchdale elbowed an officer in the face while he was being detained.

Yoder was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, public drunkenness, and possession of marijuana.

He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli and locked up in Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.   He later posted bail on December 26th, 2021 and was released.
