Man Locked Up in Schuylkill County Prison for Possessing Child Pornography in Tamaqua

A man who resides in Pottsville is facing charges after an investigation found that he was in possession of child pornography.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, an investigation began in early 2021 after a tip was received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.  An investigation into the tip led to the finding that someone in a home in the 300 Block of Hazle Street in Tamaqua had uploaded a video of child pornography to Pornhub.

On April 7th, 2021, the PSP Computer Crime Unit executed a search warrant at the home of Troy P. McMunn, 35, on Hazle Street in Tamaqua.  State Police seized electronic devices belonging to McMunn for forensic examination and found videos and images depicting child pornography.

Trooper Kundick, the investigating officer for this investigation, obtained an arrest warrant for McMunn and took him in custody at his current home in Pottsville on Tuesday, January 11th, 2022.

The charges, which were filed on September 27th, 2021, show that McMunn was charged with possession of child pornography and criminal use of a communication facility.

McMunn was arraigned on Tuesday by Magisterial District Judge Reiley in Pottsville and locked up in Schuylkill County Prison on $20,000 cash bail.
