Terry Lee Haas
, 73, of Frantz Rd., Pine Grove, passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2022 in Geisinger St. Lukes in Orwigsburg.

Born on April 19, 1948 in Pine Grove, he was a son of the late Furman and Clara Strausser Haas.

Terry was a 1966 graduate of Pine Grove High School and an Army veteran having served during the Vietnam War (1966-1971).

He was a Diesel Mechanic by trade and a Maintenance Supervisor for various diesel trucking companies over a 20+ year period. Most recently he worked alongside his wife and sons as part owner and operator of the Red Lion Cafe, Pine Grove.

Terry was very involved in Boy Scouts, having served as Scout Master for Pack 611 in Pine Grove for many years. It is here that Terry made his greatest impact on others, specifically on scouts that have since grown from boys to men and carried on the leadership lessons that he taught them. He had the pleasure of pinning the Eagle Scout award, the highest award in scouting, on several scouts that he mentored as Scout Master, including his own son Zachary. He was also a member of the Camp Pine Grove Association, a life member of the Pine Grove VFW Post 3432 and member of the Schuylkill County Corvette Club.

He loved his wife Cheryl, his sons and his grandchildren. He could always be found watching his son Andrew play or coach soccer, his son Zachary play or coach baseball, his grandson Jackson play football, his granddaughter Mia play volleyball and his granddaughter Emerson sing at her recitals. He loved his country and corvettes - of which he owned two. When the weather was right, it was not uncommon for he and Cheryl to disappear for a while and take to the road in one of them. Terry was an avid sports fan, especially baseball and football. He loved Coastal Carolina University baseball and Penn State football.

Terry was a true leader, not only by the words he spoke, but by the way he treated others and by the way he lived his life. He could be tough as nails, he was definitely passionate about the things that were important to him, but he was also the most kind and compassionate soul that you'd ever want to meet. He lived life on his terms, but always put everyone else in front of himself. If someone needed a hand, Terry was there to help.

Preceding him in death was a sister, Lois Shollenberger.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Cheryl Morgan Haas; two sons, Zachary Morgan Haas and Andrew Morgan Haas, both of Pine Grove; three grandchildren, Jackson, Mia and Emerson Haas; two sisters, Evelyn Tobias, Judy and husband Russ Stump, both of Pine Grove; a brother, Lynn and wife Laura Haas of Donaldson; a brother-in-law, Ronald Shollenberger of Pine Grove; nieces and nephews.
