Tamaqua Man in Schuylkill County Prison After Disturbance in Mahanoy City

A Tamaqua man is in Schuylkill County Prison after a disturbance in Mahanoy City on Sunday morning.

According to Mahanoy City Police Chief Thomas Rentschler, George Budihas, 19, of Tamaqua was taken into custody and charged with burglary, criminal trespassing, making terroristic threats, and criminal mischief after the incident.

Chief Rentschler said on Sunday morning, around 11:00am, he was dispatched to a home on North 10th Street for a reported disturbance.

Schuylkill County Communications reported to police that Budihas was trying to gain entry into the home.

When Chief Rentschler arrived at the address, he found Budihas in front of the home.

Chief Rentschler spoke with the female caller who stated Budihas, who is her ex-boyfriend, had been texting her saying that he was going to kill the male she was with.

Budihas then arrived at her home on North 10th Street and began to try and get into the home.

He first unlocked a door to a porch area by reaching in through a mail slot, then began attempting to break down an inner door and making threats to killing the male.

The female involved captured the whole incident on video on a cell phone.  Police arrived before he got inside.

Budihas was taken into custody without further incident on the above charges and arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer.

Judge Bayer locked Budihas up in Schuylkill County Prison on $50,000 straight cash bail.
