Pottsville Man Faces Drug and Firearm Charges After Raid; Heroin, Fentanyl, and Marijuana Seized

State Police and City Police raided a home in Pottsville as part of a drug and firearm investigation on Thursday.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Reading, on Thursday, March 17th, 2022, around 4:50pm,, the State Police Troop L Vice/Narcotics Unit and Pottsville City Police executed a search warrant at 1419 West Market Street.

While serving the warrant, the following items were seized:

  • Approximately 700 baggies of suspected heroin/fentanyl with estimated street value of $7,000
  • Approximately 3 pounds of marijuana estimated street value of $9,000
  • Over $165,000 in Cash
  • A stolen firearm
  • Approximately 70 THC oil cartridges
  • Numerous items of drug paraphernalia
As a result, Jose Rivera-Hernandez, 31, of Pottsville was taken into custody.

Rivera-Hernandez was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge David Plachko on charges of possession  with the intent to deliver, possession of a prohibited firearm, receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled substance, and promoting and facilitating the carrying on an unlawful act.

Rivera-Hernandez was locked up in Schuylkill County Prison unable to post $150,000 straight cash bail.
