Deborah K. McGuinness
, beloved mother, grandmother, sister of Tamaqua, Pennsylvania passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at Broad Mountain Nursing Home in Frackville, Pennsylvania at 64 years of age.

Born Saturday, November 16, 1957 in New Jersey the daughter of the late William, and Frances (Hermanoski) Maxwell. She was also predeceased by; and infant granddaughter; sister, Patricia Little

Surviving are sons, Andrew M. McGuinness of Tamaqua, Christopher R. McGuinness and his wife Charlene of Tamaqua; daughter, Kelly P. Sinn and her husband Kenneth C. III of Tamaqua; brother, William Maxwell; sister, Beverly Maxwell; grandchildren, Morgan, Keria, Ashleigh, Claire, and Sophie.

Parsippany, New Jersey High School graduate, Deborah earned her Bachelor's degree from Alvernia College in Reading. Deborah worked at Berks County Prison in Leesport, and was a counselor for Minsec Halfway House in Hazleton. Deborah was an avid reader, and adoring grandmother.

Michael F. Pogwist
, 53 years of age, of East Broad Street Tamaqua, Pennsylvania passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Hazleton Campus.

Born Wednesday, March 20, 1968 in Pottsville, Pennsylvania the son of the late Patricia A. (Heller) Pogwist. Mike was also predeceased by; his beloved wife, Cari (Corneliussen) Pogwist..

Surviving are; his father, Michael Pogwist of Tamaqua; son, Alex Pogwist of Hazleton; daughter, Ali Rose Pogwist of Hazleton; sister, Lisa A. Filloy wife of Robert of Tamaqua, and their sons, Nathan M., and Zachary R. Filloy.

Catholic by faith, Mike was a 1986 graduate of Marian Catholic High School, Mike worked for Air Products & Chemicals until his disability. Mike volunteered for the Tamaqua Ambulance Assoc., and Ryan Twp. Ambulance Assoc serving as an E.M.T., A devoted Flyers hockey, and Phillies baseball fan, Mike enjoyed Rock & Roll Music, and especially the band "Boston".

An adoring, proud father, Mike's witty sense of humor and quick one-liners will be greatly missed.

A Celebration of Michael's Life will be held on Tuesday March 15, 2022 at 11 o'clock A.M. from the funeral home. Friends may visit from 9:30 A.M. until time of services.

Interment will be in Sky-View Memorial Park, Tamaqua, Pennsylvania.

Richard P. Kovalesky, PhD
a well respected counselor and advocate for the disabled, of Coaldale, Pennsylvania passed away on Monday, March 7, 2022, at St. Luke's Hospital Allentown Campus, at 62 years of age.

Born Monday, October 12, 1959 in Coaldale, Pennsylvania the son of the late Robert Kovalesky. Survived by his rock,, and greatest advocate, his mother Georgine K. (Jones) Benek and her husband, Leonard J. of Lansford; caregiver, Missy Miller; beloved cat, Slick

A 1977 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School, Rich earned his Bachelor's, and Master's degrees in Psychology from Edinboro University. Rich then earned his Doctorate in Psychology from Duquesne University. Owner of Pocono Consulting with offices throughout North East Pennsylvania, Rich had served as an adjunct Professor at Bloomsburg University. Disabled in 1982, Classified as a quadriplegic, Rich's independence was inspirational to all. He was an advocate for the disabled, and inspired all who knew him.

Rich was a member of the Pa Counseling Association, National Board of Counseling, National Board of Certified Counselors, and prior to Covid restrictions served on the Consumer Subcommittee Board in Harrisburg which met monthly.

Rich, enjoyed time spent with family, and friends, listening to music, and going out to eat.

A Funeral service will be held on Friday March 11, 2022 at 11 o'clock from the funeral home, Rev. Marjorie Keiter to officiate. Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. until time of services.

Interment will be in Sky-View Memorial Park, Tamaqua, Pennsylvania.

Adam Scott Purcell
, 32, of Jonestown, Cass twp., passed away Sunday, March 6th, at his home. 

Adam was born in Pottsville, on November 4, 1989, a son of Susan L (Holt) Purcell and Scott M. Purcell. 

In addition to his parents, Adam is survived by a son, Elliott Purcell, two brothers, Ryan and Hunter Purcell. He is also survived by his grandparents, Pete and Theresa Purcell, and Joseph and Judy Holt and Jake Pielacha. Numerous uncles, aunts, cousins. 

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Lynn Pielacha. 

He was a member of the Newtown Fish & Game Club. Adam was a kind, gentle and polite person with a beautiful smile who loved to play the guitar and sing to anyone who would listen. He loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed taking his son to those special fishing holes. He loved to ride his motorcycle but most of all he loved spending time with his son Elliott who was his pride and joy. Adam will be dearly missed by his family and friends. 

All services shall be at the convenience of the family. Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc., Minersville entrusted with the arrangements.

Gifford Jay (Goober) Kline, 70, of Pottsville, passed away Thursday, March 3, at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Allentown. 

Gifford was born in Pottsville, on April 19, 1951, a son of the late Dorothy (Behm) and Samuel B. Kline. He was the husband of Louise C. (Gagliardi) Kline. He was a former welder at Summit Trailers for 42 years. Gifford was a lifetime member of West End Hose Company No. 7, Pottsville He was preceded in death by two brothers, Samuel B. Kline Jr. and Randy Kline. 

Gifford is survived by a daughter, Christina, wife of Daniel Groves, of Minersville. He is also survived by a sister, Deborah Kline, of Emmaus; two brothers, Donald, companion, Sandra Long, of Pottsville, and Jeffrey, husband of Sherry Kline, of Cressona; granddaughters, Alexia Bonacci and fiance, Samson Tomek, and Jamielynn Rose Groves; a sister-in-law, Ida Randt; nieces, nephews and cousins. 

All services are private at the convenience of family. Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc., Minersville, is entrusted with the arrangements.
