Carbon County Man Leads Police in Pursuit in Tamaqua

A man driving under the influence led State Police in a pursuit from Tamaqua to Carbon County last week.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, on Monday, April 25th, 2022 around 9:50pm, Troopers attempted to initiate a traffic stop near North Railroad Street and Route 309 in Tamaqua on a Ford Ranger driven by Brian Boner, 60, of Nesquehoning.

Boner failed to stop and a pursuit ensued.

During the pursuit, the truck became inoperable south of Route 54 in Nesquehoning.  Boner attempted to flee on foot but was eventually apprehended and placed into custody.

Police say Boner appeared to be under the influence of controlled substances and alcohol.

Boner was arraigned before on-call Magisterial District Judge Anthony Killer on the charges of fleeing and attempting to elude police, possession of a controlled substance, driving under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended or revoked license, and careless driving.

He was transported and locked up in Schuylkill County Prison unable to post $25,000 straight cash bail.
