Kathleen J. Witman, 73, of Pottsville, passed away Sunday, May 22nd, at her residence.

Born in Pottsville on April 25, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Bertha (Tengeres) and Michael Houchek.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. "Jack" Witman, on June 29, 2020; and a brother, Mitchell Houchek, on August 17, 1966.

Kathleen was a graduate of Nativity BVM, worked many years as an operator for AT&T, then was employed as a receptionist at the Pottsville Republican.
She is survived by three daughters, Suzanne Campillo, her husband Douglas, and their children Isabella and Andres, of Lafayette, CA; Jackie Reese, her husband Victor, and their daughter Victoria, of Catskill, NY; Katie Witman and her children, Jacob and Madison, of Friedensburg; a sister Michele Killian, and her husband Mark, of Schuylkill Haven; nieces and nephews.
Kathy enjoyed cooking holiday dinners for her family and a ‘good’ glass of wine. She was always laughing and smiling and enjoyed spending time with her daughters and grandchildren.

Services and interment will be private at the convenience of family.

Geschwindt Stabingas Funeral Home, Inc., Schuylkill Haven has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Barry L. Tobias, 81, of Pine Grove, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2022 in the Welllspan Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon.

Born on January 16, 1941, in Pottsville, he was a son of the late Evna Mae Tobias.

Barry was a graduate of Pine Grove High School and received an Associate Degree from Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology.

He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was a life member of the H. H. & L. Fire Co. #1, Pine Grove, where he had been a fireman and fire police.

Barry was a baker for Strohman and then worked for 25 years and retired from Moen in Pine Grove.

He was preceded in death by a brother Ronald D.Tobias.

Surviving are aunts and cousins.

Graveside Services and interment will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022, at 2:30 P.M. at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, with SALM John Ziegler officiating. There will be a procession to the cemetery, leaving the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove at 1:45 PM. Anyone wishing to follow in the procession is asked to be at the Funeral Home by 1:30 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer, contributions may be made to the H. H. & L. Fire Co. #1, One Orchard St., P.O. Box 276, Pine Grove, PA 17963, in his memory.

Dolores E. Lehman
, of Pottsville, passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2022 in Broad Mountain Health and Rehab Center.

Born on November 26, 1933 in Port Carbon, she was a daughter of the late Commander Richard O. E. and Dolores Krieger Wagner.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Friedensburg.

She and her family were living near the base at Pearl Harbor at the time of the surprise attack.

Dolores had been a secretary for the former Alcoa in Cressona in the 1950's.

Preceding her in death were her husband Paul L. Lehman; two sisters, Anna Mae Sallee and Eileen Louise Nagle; and a brother Richard Wagner.

Surviving are a daughter, Jane and husband Dean Koch of Pottsville; nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc. 139 S. Tulpehocken St., Pine Grove with Pastor Ric

Michael Patrick Ilsley
, 52, of Llewellyn, Branch Township, passed away on Thursday at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born on August 20, 1969, in Pottsville, he was a son of Lawrence Lewis and Linda (nee Reed) Ilsley, of Orwigsburg. He attended Arroyo High School in El Monte, California, before moving to Pennsylvania, settling in Port Carbon. He was a construction worker, specializing in drywall and concrete installation and finishing, being last employed with Graydus and Son Contracting..

His favorite team(s) were the Los Angeles Dodgers, USC Trojans, and Las Vegas Raiders. He was active in numerous baseball and softball leagues as a player; and he coached the Schoentown Fire Company Little League team in Port Carbon.

In addition to his parents, Mike is survived by his fiancée of ten years, Renee Narkiewicz; Christina Dixson, and spouse Michael Dixson of Austin, Texas, Maximos Ilsley, of Port Carbon, Catherine Ilsley, and Michaela Ilsley, of Minersville; two grandsons, Jonathan and William Dixson.

The family will accept visitors at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury Street, Minersville, on Friday from 6:00 P.M. and on Saturday from 6:00 A.M. until services at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in Mount Peace Cemetery, Branch Township. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers contributions to the Michael Ilsley Memorial Fund, c/o Port Carbon Little League, P. O. Box 135, Port Carbon, PA 17965.

Nancy L Heller
. age 84, of Hegins, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2022 at Penn State Milton S Hershey Medical Center.

She was born on Thursday, November 11, 1937, in Pitman, a daughter of the late Ralph H Wetzel and the late Helen H (Kehler) Wetzel.

She was a 1955 graduate of the former Hegins Twp High School.

Nancy was a seamstress in area garment factories and also had worked with her late husband at the Milton Truck Stop.

She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, Hegins.

She was also a member of Tri-Valley Senior Citizens and the Hegins Fire Company Auxiliary.

Nancy loved spending time with her family and enjoyed the conversations, friendships, and breakfast with class friends and the "Breakfast Group" at Elsie's Restaurant, Hegins. She also spent many hours tending to her many flower beds.

Her husband Kenneth G Heller passed away in 2015. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Kim M Heller, and a brother, Billy Wetzel.

She is survived by a daughter, Deborah J Stehr and her husband James of Sacramento; a son, Kenneth C Heller and his companion Tina Matalavage of Hegins; grandchildren, Brett, Brendan, Slade, Brooke, Michelle, and Brittany; fourteen great grandchildren; a great great granddaughter; two sisters, Shirley Hertzler of Mechanicsburg and Phalem "Doc" Bloch and her husband Ronald of Boiling Springs; three aunts, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at 11:00 am, with Rev. Benjamin Scholl officiating.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Hegins.

Judith (Judy) Edwards Hoover
, 73, of Ashland passed away Sunday morning at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Judy was born on June 30, 1948, at the former Ashland State Hospital. She was a daughter of the late George A. Edwards Sr. and Corinne (Kimmel) Edwards.

She graduated from Ashland Area Joint High School with the Class of 1966.

She was a member of Zion’s Reformed U.C.C. of Ashland.

Judy began her banking career in 1966 with Pennsylvania National Bank which then became M&T Bank. She worked in various offices including Ashland, Girardville, Mahanoy City and Pottsville. She enjoyed helping people and was in banking for 40 some years.

She was past treasurer of the Schuylkill County Child Development P.T.O. She helped organize the P.T.O. for the North Schuylkill Elementary Center of Griardville and became Treasurer. She also worked with the Salvation Army for many years. She was also a member of the Mahanoy City Rotary.

Her biggest passion was her family and friends. She was married to her husband for 47 years before his passing. They loved camping with friends. Judy loved doing crafts and putting a smile on others faces. But her grandchildren were the love of her life. She could be seen at cheerleading competitions and football games watching her grandchildren in the band and others cheering. She also enjoyed watching her grandson playing soccer, basketball and baseball. She could also be seen at her nephews wrestling matches and loved Christmas at her house with the family.

Judy also enjoyed going to lunch with her friends each week and former employees on a monthly basis. She enjoyed dinner and a movie with good friends and shopping.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Leonard in 2017 and two brothers Dale Edwards and George Edwards Jr.

Surviving are two sons Leonard J. Hoover significant other of Crystal Cimino, Ashland; Brian R. Hoover husband of Stacey, Gordon. Grandchildren Maxine Lentes, Lexie, Kyli and Connor Hoover. Step-grandchildren Samantha Shoup, Morgan Snyder wife of Matt, Anden Smith, and Becket Smith. Great step grandchildren Avery Lentes, Lilly and Greycen Snyder. Brothers

Thomas Edwards husband of Susan, Richard Edwards husband of Cathy, Sister-in-Law Suellen Edwards, many nieces and nephews.

Per Judy’s request graveside services will be held privately.
