Evicted Tenant Arrested for Breaking Into Home in Mahanoy City



A man and woman were taken into custody for breaking into a home in Mahanoy City on Tuesday.

According to Mahanoy City Police, on Tuesday, May 3rd, 2022 around 9:10am, Patrolman Derek Weicikosky was contacted at the police station by the property owner of 126 West Spruce Street.

The property owner reported that the previous tenants had been evicted on April 25th, 2022 and the locks were changed, but when he drove by the of the home, the front door was open.  Unknown if anyone was inside, the owner requested police clear the residence.

Patrolman Weicikosky requested assistance from Patrolman Luciani of Shenandoah Police.

The officers met with the property owner and attempted to make entry through the front door.  They found the screen door locked from the inside, as well as a piece of plywood covering the broken window on the door.

Police were able to gain entry through an unlocked side door and found Christine Poore, 42, and Louis Osborne, 53, both of Mahanoy City, sleeping on the living room floor.

Both were taken into custody and found with various drug paraphernalia.

Poore was the previous tenant that had just been evicted in April.  Osborne told police he had met Poore at Cocoa Hut and she gave him permission to stay there.

Both were charged with burglary, criminal trespass, and possession of drug paraphernalia, arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker and locked up in Schuylkill County Prison on $20,000 straight cash bail.
