A vehicle stolen from Pottsville was quickly recovered early Tuesday morning thanks to law enforcement.

According to Pottsville Police Chief Richard Wojciechowsky, on Tuesday, May 10th, 2022 around 1:00am, Pottsville Police on patrol encountered a 38 year old Pottsville man who reported that his 2014 Ford F150 Quad Cab truck had been stolen from the area of S. Centre St and Howard Ave after he had left it parked unattended with the keys inside since 11:30pm.

Stolen vehicle information was sent to surrounding agencies by Pottsville Police and at approximately 1:50am, Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Duncan observed the stolen vehicle parked at Sheetz in Schuylkill Haven and took into custody Les Ostro, 37,  of New Jersey, who had been the only occupant of the vehicle at the time.

Ostro admitted to police that he had stolen the truck after discovering it parked with the keys inside and had been waiting at Sheetz for an associate to send him money for gas.

A criminal complaint was prepared by Ptlm Tina Sullivan charging Ostro with Felony Theft by unlawful taking and Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle. The Pennsylvania State Police completed a criminal complaint charging Ostro with Felony Receiving Stolen Property.

Ostro was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Bayer who set bail at $25,000 for each complaint and Ostro was then locked up in the Schuylkill County Prison.
