Seven Displaced After Shenandoah Fire; Cause Still Under Investigation

The cause of a fire in Shenandoah on Monday is under investigation.

Just before 6:00pm, Monday, emergency personnel were called to the area of 205 North Main Street in Shenandoah for a house fire.

As fire personnel arrived on scene they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the second floor  of a structure at 207 North Main, two doors down from the Shenandoah Hook and Ladder Fire Company.

A second alarm was struck calling in additional units for manpower from the surrounding communities.

Firefighters were quick and were able to hold the bulk of the fire to the 207 address but 205 sustained damage as well.  The fire was marked under control roughly 45 minutes after the initial dispatch.

According to Patricia Daley with the American Red Cross, a total of 7 people are being assisted after the fire.  Four adults from the fire building and three adults from the neighboring home.

Shenandoah Fire Marshal Rick Examitas said as of Monday evening, no cause was determined and the Pennsylvania State Police would be on scene on Tuesday to investigate.
