Shenandoah Valley Summer Art Class Assists with Refurbishing Memorials

Shenandoah Valley is holding a summer class for students interested in enhancing their artistic skills.

Jennifer Zemek, the newest member of the Shenandoah Valley Art Department is conducting the class.

Many of these students were responsible for drawing the colorful flags that adorned store fronts during the recent Shenandoah Heritage Day and Kielbasi Festival.

Mrs. Zemek wanted to have her students consider projects that would be visible in both the school and the community.

Shown in the photo with representatives of the Anthony P. Damato American Legion Medal of Honor Post, Commander Rich Stevens and Vice Commander John Catizone with some of the students who refurbished the WW II Memorial, located in the hallway outside the HS gymnasium. When this projects concludes the students will paint the coal car located at the Shenandoah Miners’ Memorial.

Shown in photo kneeling L-R: Val Coronado, Grisaily Ramirez, Mia Hernandez, & Daniel Yisrael. Standing: Mrs. Zemek, John Catizone, & Rich Stevens.
