Robert E. Mullen, 79, of Pottsville, Pennsylvania passed away on Jul 21, 2022, at Green Valley Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Pottsville. There will be no services.

Joan Kurtz, 83, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Saturday, July 23rd, at her residence.

Born in Lebanon, PA on December 13, 1938, a daughter of the late Ruth Irene (Kercher) and Charles E. Sotzin.

She was the widow of Sydney Kurtz, who passed away in June 19, 2018.

She was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven.

Joan was a graduate of Lebanon High School, class of 1956. She was formerly employed as a Schuylkill Haven High School cafeteria worker.

She is survived by daughters Stephanie Ragusky, Chantilly, VA, Susan Iaquinta wife of Stephen, Havertown and Rachel Kalyan wife of Edward, Myerstown; granddaughters Kendal and Paige Ragusky; grandsons Stephen and Nicholas Iaquinta and Nathan and Joshua Kalyan; and a sister Marie Louise Miller, Lebanon; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her daughter Cynthia Marie Kurtz, who passed away February 27, 2022 and brothers Charles, James and John Sotzin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church in Schuylkill Haven, on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at 10:30 am with Rev. Msgr. Edward S. Zemanik officiating.

A visitation for family and friends will be held prior from 9:15 am - 10:15 am at the Church.

At the family's request, memorial donations may be forwarded to Lebanon Rescue Mission, PO Box 5, Lebanon, PA 17042.

Interment will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

Geschwindt Stabingas Funeral Home, Inc., Schuylkill Haven has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Mary Ann Shukausky
, 86, of Butler Twp., passed away Thursday, July 21, 2022, at Mount Carmel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born Sept. 2, 1935, in Gilberton, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary A. (Wesner) Berger.

A 1953 graduate of Gilberton High School, Mary Ann was kind, gentle and soft spoken. She was the family historian and enjoyed researching her family’s genealogy. Mary Ann will be remembered fondly for her love of animals, especially dogs. She was an amazing baker, who loved creating custom Easter eggs for her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Lynn M. Shukausky; two sisters, Betty Thomas and Jean Brinsko; one brother, John Berger.

Surviving are her husband, Francis M. Shukausky, of Butler Twp.; two sons, Francis J. Shukausky and his wife, Amy Brayford, of Berwick, and Michael Shukausky, of Los Angeles, California; three grandchildren, Addie, Nicholas and Charles Shukausky.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ruth Steinert Memorial SPCA, P.O. Box 332, Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972.
