Drug Bust Seizes Methamphetamine in New Philadelphia

An investigation led to the arrest of a Reading man on Tuesday after he was found with thousands of dollars worth of methamphetamine in New Philadelphia.

On Tuesday, August 23, 2022, members of the Pennsylvania State Police and the Schuylkill County District Attorney’s Office, Drug Task Force, conducted a joint investigation which resulted in the seizure of approximately 141 grams of methamphetamine from a location within the Borough of New Philadelphia.

The methamphetamine has an estimated street value of approximately $6,500.00.

As a result of the seizure, Miguel Torres, 41, of Reading, was charged with violations of the Controlled Substance, Drug, Device and Cosmetic Act and Pennsylvania Crimes Code including Possession With the Intent to Deliver (methamphetamine), Possession of a Controlled Substance (methamphetamine), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Torres was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli, Frackville.  Torres was locked up in Schuylkill County Prison after Judge Tarantelli set bail at $100,000.00 straight cash.
