Firefighters Respond to Fire at Former Pet Salon in Orwigsburg

Firefighters responded to a fire at a former pet salon in Orwigsburg on Saturday afternoon.

Around 3:45pm, Saturday, emergency personnel were called to 725 West Market Street in Orwigsburg for a possible structure fire.

The first chief on scene called in a working commercial fire with flame shooting from the second story of the structure, which was the former Pawprints Pet Salon.  The fire struck a 2nd alarm calling in additional manpower.

The fire was brought under control within an hour but not before severely damaging the 2nd and 3rd floors and rear of the structure.

No injuries were reported.

UPDATE:  According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, a fire marshal was called to the scene to investigate and found that the fire originated on the exterior rear first floor of the building.  No criminal activity is suspected but the cause is being listed as undetermined at this time.

Three people were displaced.  Damage from the fire is estimated at approximately $150,000.
