Marian Catholic Announces Daylong Festivities for Saturday's Homecoming

Marian Catholic High School, Hometown, has announced plans for their 2022 Homecoming celebration that will take place on Saturday, October 8.

Alumni, families and friends are invited to join the school community in daylong festivities that begin as early as 9am and culminate when the Colts’ gridiron team hosts the Shenandoah Valley Blue Devils at 7pm. At the game halftime, the 2022 Homecoming Queen and King will be named.

Members of the 2022 Marian Catholic High School Homecoming Court include, front, from left, Jaclyn Guth, Taylor Ryba, Rebecca Boyle, Megan Paisley and Jenna Goff; and back, Joseph Walko, Alexander Cornmesser, Frank Valente, Rawlin Melendez and Matthew Zakrewsky.

“We obviously are always thrilled when alumni and friends are able to join our Marian Catholic family at our events. We have lined up a full day of activities for everyone — not only to see the great job our athletic teams do— but to tour our school, as well,” said Michael Brennan, Head of School. "Also, for the second year in a row, Marian Catholic organizers have moved the Homecoming game to a Saturday to accommodate alumni who want to travel from out of the area to attend the various events," Brennan said.

The daylong festivities kick off with a Cross Country/Track & Field Alumni, Friends & Kid’s Fun Run/Walk at 9am, followed by a Boys’ Soccer game against Weatherly Area at 10:30am. Starting at 11am, a tri-meet volleyball matchup will be hosted by the Fillies’ net team, followed by the Girls’ Soccer game vs. Weatherly at 12:30pm. Brennan invites alumni and friends to tour the Marian Catholic facilities between 4:30 and 5:30pm.

At 5:30pm, the Marian Catholic Alumni Association will host a “happy hour” at Basile’s Restaurant at 401 Claremont Avenue, Hometown, where hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be offered. A $10 cover charge is kindly requested this year to help defray the expenses of the event. Anyone planning to attend the “happy hour” are asked to RSVP to alumni@mariancatholichs.org. The school’s Advancement Office, headed by newly named director Erin Marek, will host an alumni tent at the campus from 6:30pm until halftime of the game.

“We cordially invite everyone to join us in what promises to be an exciting day that will allow participants to ‘Be Marian,’” Brennan said.
