Schools in the Tamaqua area were placed on lockdown Wednesday morning.

According to the St. Jerome Regional's Facebook page, as of 10:54am, the school went on lockdown after being advised by local law enforcement. Police are reportedly investigating a situation.
An alert to parents and a Tweet from the Tamaqua Area School District reported that the Schuylkill County Comm Center received an "unverified threat" and that Police were investigating.
