Schuylkill County Landmark to be Featured on United States Postal Stamp


On Monday, the United State Postal Service revealed some its 2023 stamps, which include one of a landmark from Schuylkill County.

“The 2023 stamp program features a broad range of subjects and designs. These miniature works of art highlight our unique American culture and offer a broad selection for those looking to collect stamps or send their mail around the nation or the world,” said USPS Stamp Services Director William Gicker.

This year's collection includes stamps for several categories and noteworthy figures including the Lunar New Year, Love, Great Smoky Mountains, Ernest J. Gaines, Pinatas, Sailboats, Red Fox, Snow Globes, Thinking of You, Tulip Blossoms, Chief Standing Bear, Winter Woodland Animals, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Toni Morisson., and Women's Soccer, just to name a few.

The stamps that reference Schuylkill County though is "Railroad Stations".    The USPS chose 5 railroad stations from across the country including Tamaqua's to be featured.  

The other stations featured included Point of Rocks Station in Maryland; Main Street Station in Richmond, VA; Santa Fe Station in San Bernardino, CA; and Union Terminal in Cincinnati, OH.  Tamaqua's station was the only station where passenger trains do not stop at.
