St. Clair Man Charged After Chasing Woman with Hammer

A St. Clair man is facing aggravated assault charges after an incident involving a hammer.

According to St. Clair Police, on Wednesday, November 30th, 2022, borough police were dispatched to East Lawton Street for a report of a male chasing a female with a hammer.

Upon arrival, police located and identified the suspect at Mark Zimmerman, 45, of Saint Clair.

Police spoke with the victim and multiple witnesses that stated Zimmerman was seen chasing the victim with the hammer above his head as if he was attempting to strike the female.  Zimmerman only put the hammer down when he heard police sirens.

The hammer was found underneath a vehicle nearby.

On December 20th, 2022, Saint Clair Police filed a criminal complaint through Magisterial District Judge David Plachko's office charging Zimmerman with aggravated assault, possessing the instrument of a crime, and harassment.
