Pottsville Man Taken into Custody for Selling Counterfeit Methamphetamine


A Pottsville man was taken into custody for selling counterfeit methamphetamine.

According to Pottsville Chief of Police John Morrow, during the month of November 2022, due to a rise in overdoses and deaths, the city Drug Investigation Unit, along with the Schuylkill County Drug Task Force were conducting an ongoing investigation into tampered and counterfeit substances being sold within Schuylkill County. 

Investigators learned that David Herman, 30, of Pottsville, was selling controlled substances, in and around the City. 

Investigators conducted an operation where Mr. Herman sold a quantity of a counterfeit substance that was portrayed and packaged to be methamphetamine. 

A warrant for Herman's arrest was requested and granted by Magisterial District Justice Serina, of Orwigsburg.

On Wednesday, March 1st, 2023, city police apprehended Herman who was then arraigned by Magisterial District Justice Bayer on the charges of Possession of Counterfeit Substance with Intent to Deliver and Delivery of a Counterfeit Substance, both felonies. 

He was committed to Schuylkill County Prison, unable to post $50,000(10%) bail.
