18-Year-Old Faces Charges for Stealing Vehicle in Pottsville


An 18-year-old is facing charges for stealing a vehicle in Pottsville last week.

According to Pottsville Police, on Wednesday March 29, 2023, a 63-year-old Pottsville man reported that his vehicle, a 2003 Black in color Toyota Corolla was stolen from the 300 block of South Centre Street.

On March 31, 2023, the vehicle was observed parked near the 800 block of Vine Street, Pottsville. 

As the investigating officers were attempting to make contact with a residence in that area, 2 males fled on foot from the front of that residence and were apprehended a short time later in the 800 block of West Race Street after a foot pursuit.

The offender was identified as Gavin Krauskopf, 18, formerly of Easton. 

Krauskopf was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Reiley on Charges of Theft of a motor vehicle(F3) and Receiving Stolen property (F3). Krauskopf was remanded to Schuylkill County Prison on $20,000 straight cash bail.

The second person that fled from the residence was a 16-year-old male juvenile who was reported as a runaway from a Juvenile Placement Facility. The juvenile was not charged, and he was remanded to the custody of the Schuylkill County Children and Youth Services
