Frackville swears in New Police Officer

During a short ceremony Monday evening, Frackville swore in a new police officer.

On April 8, 2023, a special meeting of Frackville Borough Council was held to approve the hiring of Joseph Murton, of Port Carbon, as a police officer for the borough.  The hiring was approved 4-1 by council.

Murton was sworn-in and began working for the borough on Monday, April 24th, 2023, but a special ceremony was held Monday with Mayor Kim Phillips, Chief Paul Olson, and Council President Ron Jordan present.

Murton brings nearly two decades of experience as a police officer working for the Pottsville City Police and Port Carbon Police prior to being by Frackville.  Murton's father is the late Joseph Murton, former Police Chief of Pottsville.
