Lycoming County Man Faces Charges After Crashing Vehicle and Stealing Another in Schuylkill County

A Lycoming County man will face charges in court after he crashed his vehicle, then stole another vehicle in Union Township last month.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, on June 20, 2023, around 5:30am, Troopers responded to Little Mountain Road in Union Township for a report of a stolen Volkswagen Jetta.

An investigation found that Colby Harris, 31, of Picture Rocks, Lycoming County, crashed his 2013 Kia in an unknown location, and later parked it in a yard along Little Mountain Road.

Harris then entered an unlocked Chevrolet Colorado and stole several items from it.

He then entered an unlocked Volkswagen Jetta, found the keys, and drove back to Picture Rocks with the vehicle.

The vehicle was found the following day by Hughesville Police.

Harris was charged by Trooper Justin Funk with theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, theft of a motor vehicle criminal mischief, trespassing a motor vehicle, and driving with a suspended or revoked license.

He was taken into custody on June 21, 2023, brought back to Schuylkill County and arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli where bail was set at $15,000 straight cash.

He was locked up in Schuylkill County Prison and later released on June 23, 2023, after posting bail through a bondsman.

A preliminary hearing was held on July 5, 2023, where Harris was not present, and his charges were held for court.

A bench warrant was issued by Judge Tarantelli for Harris's arrest.
