Elizabeth Lipsky, 93, of Pottsville, PA, passed away Monday, July 17th, at The Gardens at York Terrace.

Elizabeth was born in Pottsville, PA on April 4, 1930, a daughter of the late Leona (Haley) and James Reed.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church Pottsville.

She worked in the local Garment industry and retired from Luther Ridge as a housekeeper.

In her spare time she enjoyed time with her family putting puzzles together and drinking coffee with her friends at the Patterson Building.

She was wife of the late Robert Lipsky Sr.

Elizabeth is survived by a daughter, Carol Ann Rehnert, of Minersville & also survived by 4 Grandchildren, Tina and her husband Michael DeAlessio, Michelle Rehnert and her companion Shawn Wiggins, Laurie Ann, and her husband Harry Chappell, and Robert Lipsky III, and 5 Great Grandchildren Leona, Owen, Charlotte, and Blaise Rehnert and Shyanne Lipsky. Neices and nephews.

She is preceded in death by a son Robert, a sister Dorothy Lord, & son in-law Joseph.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patricks Church, Pottville, at 11AM on Tuesday July 25th, with Father Philip Rodgers officiating.

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery Pottsville.

Francis M. Vitek
, 82, of Barnesville passed away Sunday July, 15, 2023 at St. Luke’s Hospital Miners Hospital, Coaldale.

Born in Coaldale July 30, 1940 he was a son of the late Anna (Guy) and Stephen Vitek.

A 1958 graduate of Lansford High School, Francis voluntarily enlisted and served honorably in the United States Navy for 14 years as a Seabee. He was a carpenter by trade working for the 257 team and enjoyed woodworking, gardening, traveling with his wife, the shore, surf fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren whom he adored. He was a member of St. Richards R.C.C., Barnesville.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by son William Valentine and grandson Jospeh Porvaznik, brother Bernard Vitek.

Surviving are his wife Dolores (Koreisl) Vitek, 2 sons Stephen Vitek and his wife Angie, FL, Brian Valentine and his wife Lisa of Drums, 5 daughters Anna Maria Vitek, NY, Joanne Vitek, Columbia, Beth Ann Valentine, Tamaqua, Sharyn Martin, Louisiana, Kathy Porvaznik her husband Joseph, Lake Hauto, brother Joseph Vitek, Maryland, John Thailand. Grandchildren Seth, Jillian, Dylan, Anthony, Candice, Michael, Brian , Nicholas , Joseph, Jorge, Korina, Stephanie, Natalie, Great Grandchildren, Blake, Allie, Hannah, Joseph, Bentley, Owen, Aubrey, Nova Lee, Embree, Romero, Jarrod, Joseph, Bryce and his furry baby Missy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday July 27, 2023 from St. Richard’s R.C.C. Church Barnesville with the Rev. Robert Finlan officiating. Friends may call from 10 till 11 at the church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the funeral home.

Margaret A. (Peg) Devitt Koury
, 81, of Pottsville, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning at Green Valley Skilled Nursing & Rehab, Pottsville.

Born in Pottsville, on April 27, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Thomas J Devitt and Lorraine E. (Joy) Devitt and Leo F Haley.

She was a 1961 honors graduate of Pottsville High School.

Peg worked in the office of PHS upon graduation, transitioning to homemaking when her children arrived. She later returned to the workforce, initially with Mootz Candy, then becoming a bank teller for American Bank, through the many iterations, finally as Wells Fargo, for 25 years. She loved helping customers and often received Sales Awards when she believed a product would help those customers. She also worked in the County Treasurer's Office upon retirement.

She was a founding member of the JSC Elementary PTA, officer of Jackson St and DHHL PTAs and served on the Pottsville Area School Board for over 15 years. She served at all officer levels of the Lionettes, on the Anthracite Bowl Committee, and received the Chapel of the Four Chaplains Award.

She lovingly cared for her children, grandchildren and mother-in-law and provided 8 years of full-time care to the love of her life, husband Joe, to whom she was married for 50 years.

In addition to her parents, Peg was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph D. Koury Sr., brother James and wife Anna Mae; sister-in-law Theresa Patinsky; and Dave Naydock, companion of Lorraine.

Peg is survived by: a daughter, Lorraine J. Koury, companion of Mike Naydock, Pottsville; three sons: Joseph D. Koury, husband of Kim, Douglassville; Daniel J. Koury, husband of Sandy, Pine Grove; and Victor J. Koury, husband of Stacy, Hamburg; grandchildren: Natalie, Jordan, Daniel Jr., Emma, and Gibson; brothers: Thomas L. Devitt, husband of Patricia, Pottsville and Garrett "Jake" Devitt, husband of Annette, Pottsville; brother-in-law, Peter M. Koury, husband of Shirley, FL; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 24th, at 11:00 a.m. at Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc., 1818 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, with Deacon Jack Quirk officiating.

A viewing will be held on Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service in the funeral home.

Interment will follow in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville.
