Occupants Unharmed After Vehicle Catches Fire near Ashland/Centralia


Emergency personnel from Centralia and Aristes were called to the scene of a vehicle fire on Byrnesville Road/Route 61, between Ashland and Centralia, around 7:30 pm Tuesday.
Upon their arrival, firefighters were met with an SUV that was completely engulfed in flames. Fortunately, all occupants had managed to exit the vehicle unscathed before the fire took over.

Firefighters made quick work of the fire, but all that was left behind was its charred body and engine.

According to the occupants of the SUV, it had been a newly purchased vehicle, with barely an hour's worth of driving before the fire broke out.

The Pennsylvania State Police at Bloomsburg also responded to the incident.

No injuries have been reported in connection with the incident.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
