Shenandoah Historical Society Holds Presentation “What do you know about Lithuanians?”

At the July Meeting of the Greater Shenandoah Area Historical Society a special presentation was made by Anne Chaikowsky Skirmantas entitled “What do you know about Lithuanians?”
Anne’s presentation consisted of historical highlights, geographical maps and several photographs taken by her while living in Lithuania. Also included were contributions made by Lithuanians who migrated to the United States. As a NATO nation, Lithuanian is strategically important due to its location as the geographic center of Europe, and the first line of defense against Russian aggression.

Shown posing with the mannequin depicting Lithuanian descendent and Shenandoah native Major Anne Krizanauskas who was the first woman from Schuylkill County to enlist in the military during WW II. L-R: Peter Skirmantas video operator, Anne Chaikowsky Skirmantas guest presenter, and Sally & Bill Koons who attended the presentation.
