Fire Chief Credits Quick Response by Homeowner for Averting Electrical Fire in Girardville

Thanks to quick thinking by a homeowner in Girardville, an electric fire on Wednesday morning was only a minor call.

Around 8:00am, Wednesday, emergency personnel were called to 19 Beech Street in Girardville for an electrical fire.  The initial call was reported to Chief Frank Zangari that two outlets in the home were smoking.

By the time Chief Zangari arrived on scene, the woman that was home at the time had shut the power off.

The Rangers Hose and Girard Hose Companies arrived on scene, investigated and found no active fire.

Firefighters were on scene for approximately a half hour before clearing.

Chief Zangari reported that both outlets were scorched black and if the homeowner had not shut off the power, they could have had a major fire on their hands.
