Hazel Bradbury
, 79, of Mahanoy City, PA, passed away Friday, September 15th, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Hazel was born in Gilberton, PA on August 5, 1944, a daughter of the late Hazel (Fox) and James Birmingham.

She was a member of St. Pauls UCC Mahanoy City.

She worked for ACME Markets and also at Mahanoy Area High School as a cafeteria worker. She really enjoyed animals and was a supporter of the SPCA. Hazel was an avid reader as well as enjoyed her trips to the Casino.

She was wife of the late David Bradbury who passed away in August.

Hazel is survived by a daughter, Noelle, wife of Rob Schreck, of Milton; a son, David, husband of Nicole Bradbury, of Mahanoy City; a step daughter, Cheree, wife of Frank Schuman, of WA; and a brother, James, husband of Betsy Birmingham, of Fort Worth Tx.

She is also survived by 3 Grandchildren Jacob, Alexis, and Dominick. Nieces and Nephews

Hazel is preceded in death by her sister Sharon Selinko.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Interment will take place at Skyview Memorial Park Tamaqua, PA.

Ronald W. Androshick, 83, of Pottsville, died Thursday September 14, 2023 at his home.

Born in Pottsville, March 8, 1940, He was a son of the late Paul and Anna (Grabowski) Androshick.

Ron served in the US Navy before becoming a Train Conductor, retiring from National Railroad Passenger Corporation known as Amtrak and worked for other railroad companies during his career.

He was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville, and Amvets Post 180, Pottsville. Throughout his life, Ron counted many cats and dogs as part of his family. The joy they brought to his life was only matched by the care and affection he bestowed on them. He was an enthusiast of all things to do with the railroad industry and enjoyed spending time with others who shared the same interest. Ron also found comfort and peace as a member of St Patrick’s Catholic Church. The community and sense of belonging provided by the clergy and parish members was cherished.

He was preceded in death by sister in law Mary Ann Androshick.

Surviving are daughter Martina Keil and her husband Mark of Moran WY; brother Paul Androshick of Pottsville; nephews Eric Androshick, Randy Androshick and his wife Andrea; Paul Androshick. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday September 20, 2023 from St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 319 Mahantongo St. Pottsville, PA 17901. The Rev. Philip Rodgers will be officiating. Friends may call from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM Wednesday at the church.

Kelly M. Davies, 41, Shenandoah, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Saturday, September 16th.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home Inc., Frackville.

Phyllis F. Strause, 94, of Schuylkill Haven passed away on Friday at the Lehigh Valley Hospital – E. Norwegian.

Born on August 25, 1929, in Pottsville, she was the daughter of the late, Clyde and May Reichert Storch.

Phyllis was a graduate of Pottsville Area High School.

She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Pottsville. Phyllis was also a member of The Order of the Amaranth and served as a past Royal Matron.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Harold who passed in 2016. She is also preceded in death by her sisters, Mildred Kishbaugh and Nancy Rasner

Phyllis is survived by her son, Lee A. Strause of Port Carbon along with grandchildren, Courtney Strause and Lee Strause Jr. husband to Sarah. She is also survived by her great granddaughter Alyson Strause.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 A.M.at Grabowski Funeral Home, Schuylkill Haven. Family and friends are welcome from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services.

Irene M. DiJinio
, 99, a lifelong resident of Shenandoah passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at the Shenandoah Senior Living Community.

Born in William Penn on January 28, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (May) Rakus.

Irene was an active member of the United Methodist Church in William Penn for many years. As her occupation, she did clerical work for the local garment industry.

Besides her parents, she was preceded by her husband of 46 years, Joseph DiJinio, and her brother, William E. Rakus.

Irene is survived by several nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, September 23rd from 9 to 11am at the Oravitz Home for Funerals Inc, 40 N. Jardin St, Shenandoah. Scripture services will be held at 11am in the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Mahanoy City.

Terry Stine, 70, of Plane Street, Gordon, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2023, at his residence. 

The Richard W. Fritz Funeral Home, Ashland, will announce funeral arrangements.

Thomas J. Geusic, 65, of McAdoo, and formerly of Lansford, passed away suddenly Friday at his residence.

Born in Coaldale, he was the son of the late Joseph T. and Cecelia (Treichak) Geusic, Sr.

Thomas was a graduate of Marian Catholic High School, class of 1976, and attended Penn State University.

He was of the Roman Catholic faith.

Thomas was a loving and devoted son, father and brother, and will be sadly missed by all.

Prior to retiring, Thomas was employed with the PA Turnpike as a toll collector for over 30 years.

Surviving, are his daughter Marley C. Geusic; sisters Mary Ann Bielen and husband David, of Hometown; and Diane Alabovitz and husband Larry, of Summit Hill; brother Joseph T. Geusic, Jr. and wife Francine, of Tresckow; sister Barbara Falco and husband Michael, of Bethlehem; and nieces and nephews also survive.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be held in St. Michael’s R.C. Cemetery, Summit Hill.

Michael Robert Forbes
, age 71, of Schuylkill Haven, PA passed away Sunday, September 10th, 2023 at his home.

Born in Port Carbon, PA on July 1, 1952, he was the son of the late Robert and Margaret (Mohan) Forbes.

Michael was a graduate of Pottsville High School. He worked as a Salesman at Butch Furer and Daughter MRD Lumber Company in Orwigsburg for 42 years.

Michael was a member of First United Methodist Church in Schuylkill Haven, where he was a worship leader for 21 years and also at the Higher Ground Church, and Shouthumbly MM with Rev. Razz and his roady. Michael's musical career had him playing with several bands, which included: Simon Buckwheat Release, Gilead, Calico Jo, Mankind, Night on the Town, and His Sons and Daughters.

Michael is survived by his wife Joanne Marie Forbes, Schuylkill Haven; two sisters: Margaret Bedway, Schuylkill Haven and Catherine Brazinsky, Port Carbon; nephews: Brice Brazinsky and Jared and Jordan Byrnes; and nieces: Tam Amato and Jonni Gray.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the First United Methodist Church 420 Saylor St, Schuylkill Haven at 10AM on Saturday, September 23rd, 2023.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations in honor of Michael to Next Chapters Counseling 420 Saylor Street Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972; this fund assists with the cost of home caregivers to offset the family's financial burden of in-home aide.
