Tri-Valley Lions Club Recognizes September's Outstanding Student of the Arts


Valley View, September 18, 2023 - On Monday, September 18, 2023, the Tri-Valley Lions Club honored Atticus Edwards as their September 2023 Outstanding Student of the Arts.

Atticus was selected for his talent in the area of Instrumental Music with the trombone.

Atticus is the son of Diana Cosgrove and Isaac Graves. He resides in Valley View. He is a senior at Tri-Valley High School in the academic curriculum. He played 3 songs for the members present, including a Concerto he performed at County Band and two songs from the current music for the marching band. He has been playing the trombone since the 4th grade and explained the trombone, how it works, the different types of trombones that are used. He shared his insights into learning to play the trombone and watching the younger students grow in their skills. He explained the rigorous process he went through to become Drum Major and some of the moves involved. 

Throughout his high school career, he participated in soccer, band, chorus, and Quiz Bowl. His activities outside of school include playing for the West Schuylkill Football Club (WSFC). For honors, Atticus has served as captain of the Tri-Valley soccer team for 3 years, All County Band 2nd Team, President of the band, Drum Major, All County Band and Chorus, and Captain of the WSFC. After graduation, Atticus plans to attend PSU and obtain a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. He also plans to continue his musical career while attending PSU.
