North Schuylkill Dominates on Senior Night with Victory Over Salisbury Township


The North Schuylkill Spartans faced off against the Salisbury Township Falcons on their home turf, and it was a night to remember for Spartans fans as they celebrated Senior Night and the promise of future talent during Future Spartans Night.

Both teams also had steady rain to contend with throughout the game.

The game started with North Schuylkill's offense making a statement early in the first quarter after recovering a fumble by Salisbury. With 8:03 remaining, running back Ricky Halford powered through the defense for a 5-yard rushing touchdown, and Gavin Mentzer's extra point kick was good, putting the Spartans ahead 7-0.

The Spartans continued their defensive attack forcing a 2nd Salisbury fumble.  With just 2:53 left in the first quarter, quarterback Trevor Minalda connected with Collin McGee for a 10-yard touchdown pass. followed by the PAT, extending North Schuylkill's lead to 14-0.

As the first quarter came to a close, Ricky Halford bulldozed his way to a 1-yard touchdown run, and with Mentzer's PAT, North Schuylkill was ahead by a commanding 21-0.

The third quarter saw no break for the Salisbury defense, as North Schuylkill's Collin Stanakis broke free on the first play of the half for a 59-yard touchdown run, followed by another 6-yard touchdown run. Both times, Mentzer's extra points were good, pushing the score to 35-0 in favor of North Schuylkill.

Stanakis would run in another during the 3rd, followed by the extra point, making it 42-0.

As the third quarter ended, Michael Mogish added to the Spartans' lead with a 5-yard touchdown run. The Spartans would forego the extra point leaving the score 48-0.

In the end, North Schuylkill displayed a dominant performance, shutting out the Salisbury Township Falcons with a final score of 48-0.

This win marked North Schuylkill's last home game for the regular season, and they celebrated Senior Night in style, improving their season record to an impressive 7-2. The Spartans are now gearing up for their final regular-season matchup, which will take place next week in Pottsville.
