A fire heavily damaged a new restaurant that just opened recently in Ashland.
At 8:08pm, Tuesday evening, firefighters were called to 1314 Centre Street, the new Fat Bellies Restaurant, for a building fire.
Fire personnel arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the building and a large fire in the kitchen extending into the ventilation system.
A quick response by first responders held the fire to the kitchen area.
The kitchen sustained heavy damage. The rest of the building sustained smoke damage.
The restaurant just recently opened and held its soft opening this past Sunday.
