Frackville Elks Spread Thanksgiving Cheer with Turkey Giveaway

In the spirit of giving thanks and fostering a sense of community, the Frackville Elks held their annual Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway on Saturday morning.

The event, held at the Frackville Elks Lodge on Arch Street, saw the distribution of 200 turkeys sourced from Koch's Turkey Farm, all made possible through a generous grant from the Elks National Foundation.

The initiative drew an overwhelming response from the local community, with eager participants forming a line as early as 7:15 am. The line snaked down Arch Street to South 2nd Street and extended down West Laurel Street, showcasing the depth of gratitude and need within the community.

While supplies lasted, each family was presented with a Thanksgiving package, including a free turkey, a bag of potatoes, and two cans of canned vegetables. The gesture aimed not only to provide a festive meal but also to ease the burden for families during the holiday season.

The success of the event was made possible through the collaboration and support of various sponsors. Boyers Markets, Koch's Turkey Farm, Masser Potatoes, and Keystone Potatoes all played vital roles in ensuring the event's success, contributing to the abundance of food distributed to families in need.

Bill Mack, Secretary of the Frackville Elks, expressed the organization's commitment to the community, stating, "The Elks are about brotherly and sisterly love; we are here to help the elders and those in need."
