Edward R. Averill
, 81 of Pottsville, died Wednesday at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill, East Norwegian St., Pottsville.

He was born June 19, 1942, in Pottsville a son of the late Edward J. and Edith Sands Averill.

He was a 1960 graduate of Nativity BVM High School and Ford School of Business.

Ed was employed by the former Acme Market and later work with his brother Bob at Candles and Collectables prior to retirement.

He served in the Army National Guard for 6 years.

Ed was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic, Pottsville, where he served an usher. Yorkville Hose Fire Co., Pottsville, and volunteered for many years as a coach for Railway Park Little League.

Throughout his life Ed was an Avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles Fan.

Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Hudock Averill; a daughter, Lori Oler and her husband Mike, Birdsboro; a son, Edward “Ted” Averill, Pottsville; 2 granddaughters, Rachel and Lauren Oler; a brother, Robert Averill, Cape Coral, FL; nieces and nephews.

Service of Remembrance will be held at the convenience of the family from James E. Humphrey Funeral Home. Interment will at the convenience of the family at St. John No. 2 Cemetery, Pottsville. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions in memory of Ed be made to St. John Memorial Fund, 913 Mahantongo St. Pottsville, PA 17901.

Ronald E. Fidler, 68, of Pine Grove, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Pauline Fidler, and his ex-wife, Celene Larkin Fidler. He is survived by two children, Kelly and Kyle Fidler, his sister Diann Lehr, and her husband Roy, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at the discretion of his children.

Jeffrey Cole Harig, 42, of Burke, VA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 6th, while in the company of family at his residence.

Jeffrey was born in Orlando, FL. on May 8, 1981, a son of Carol (Robertson) and Gary M. Harig, of Fairfax, VA.

Jeffrey is also survived by two sisters, Lisa A., wife of William Tucker ; Amy L. Harig and his brother, Andrew S. Harig

He is also survived by his brother-in-law William Tucker, nephew Cooper Aaron and niece Morgan Aaron

A Religious Service will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, December 14th at Hamilton-Breiner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. in Orwigsburg, PA with Rev. Jeff Johnson officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM.

Interment will follow at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Inc. Schuylkill Haven.

Harry E. Bowers Jr., 82, of Minersville passed away Monday December 4, 2023 at his home.

Born in Pottsville April 16, 1941, he was a son of the late Harry E. Sr. and Alice (Connors) Bowers.

He was a graduate of Pottsville Area High School and served in the US Army during the Vietnam War.

He retired as a Maintenance Mechanic from Dana Corporation in Reading,PA and was a member of the U. S. Steelworkers Union. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman and spent many a day at the Pumpy Association in Ringtown.

Harry was a member of Holy Family Parish of Minersville - St. Michael Church.

Harry is survived by his wife of 57 years Josie (Stablum) Bowers; a daughter Heather Gagnier and her husband Eric of Hatfield; son Heath Bowers and his wife Nicole of Llewellyn. 3 Grandchildren Gabrielle Gagnier, Hunter Bowers and Hailey Bowers. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Daniel Bowers.

Funeral Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Burial with military honors will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
