Shenandoah Man Pulls Machete During Road Rage Incident in Mahanoy Township

A Shenandoah man is facing charges after a road rage incident in Mahanoy Township on Thursday morning involving a machete.

According to information released by the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, on Thursday, December 14th, 2023, around 8:30am, Troopers responded to an altercation that had occurred in the area of Route 54 and Ellen Gowen Road.

An investigation determined that Amaury Bastardo Batista, 47, of Shenandoah, and another male got into a fight after Bastardo Batista would not allow the other man to pass him in a passing zone on the roadway.

Both men pulled over and verbal argument occurred.

During the argument, Bastardo Batista made gestures wanting to fight, then went back to his vehicle and grabbed a machete.  He then struck the roof of the other man's truck with the machete before going back to his vehicle and leaving the scene.

State Police Trooper Karaman filed charges of disorderly conduct and criminal mischief through Magisterial District Judge Anthon Kilker's office in Shenandoah.
