The driver of a vehicle was ejected after he led State Police in a pursuit in Luzerne County early Friday morning.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Hazleton, the incident began around 2:42am on Route 924 on the Cando Expressway near the intersection with Route 93 in the city of Hazleton.
State Police reportedly attempted to conduct a traffic stop and the driver failed to yield, fleeing at a high rate of speed southbound on Route 924 towards Interstate 81.
State Police lost sight of the fleeing vehicle as it merged onto Interstate 81 north.
Troopers continued to canvass area until they found the vehicle disabled on Interstate 81 south. They also found the driver ejected from the vehicle.
State Police rendered aid until EMS arrived and transported him to an area hospital.
The driver was only identified as a 23-year-old Hispanic male.
As of a police report made available Friday, State Police say the investigation is still ongoing.
