Pottsville Rotary Announces March Students of the Month



The March 2024 Students of the Month of the Pottsville Rotary Club were honored at their meeting on Wednesday, March 13 meeting at Vitos Coal Fired Restaurant in St. Clair.
 
The March 2024 Students of the Month include:

  • Dominic Alvarez

Minersville Area
  • Kiera Kurchock
  • Austin Hydock

Nativity Students
  • Grace Brennan
  • Ryliegh Sinko.

LILY HEINBACH (POTTSVILLE AREA HIGH SCHOOL)

Lily Heinbach is the daughter of Amy and David Heinbach of Pottsville. Her school activities consist of Varsity Softball (Captain), Majorette (Captain), and Ecology Club Member.
Her community activities include Bethesda Mobile Mission Volunteer, Emergency Medical Technician, Volunteer Majorette Class Instructor/Assistant, Fun Day Volunteer, and Food Service Worker at LVHN - Schuylkill.

Lily’s honors include: Varsity Letter (earned for 3 years) , National Honor Society (11th and 12th grades) , German National Honor Society (11th and 12th grades), earned membership in the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.

After graduation, Lily plans to attend Penn State University to major in Radiological Science.

DOMINIC ALVAREZ (POTTSVILLE AREA HIGH SCHOOL)


Dominic Alvarez is the son of Denise Alvarez and Travis Yeager of Pottsville. His school activities consist of Cross Country (5 year) , Track and Field (5 years) , Student Council President, German Club and Big Impact Program.

He worked: as a Lifeguard at Ivyside Swim Club (2 years), as a lifeguard at St. Clair Public Swimming Pool (1 year), and at the Yuengling Mill Creek plant. He also delivered Christmas gifts to families in the district, replaced worn flags in local cemeteries to honor deceased veterans, and volunteered in his church for programs and fundraisers.

Dominic’s honors include: Cross Country Varsity Member (4 years), Track and Field Varsity Member ( 4 years), National Honor Society ( 11th and 12th grade), German National Honor Society (11th and 12th grade).

After graduation, Dominic plans to attend Wilkes University to major in Pharmacy.

KIERA KURCHOCK (MINERSVILLE AREA HIGH SCHOOL)


Kiera is the daughter of Ashley Martin and Marty Shappell, Minersville. 

Her school activities consist of: Yearbook Committee, Pep Club, STEM Club, Class Treasurer, Prom Committee, member of Girls Soccer and Track & Field Teams. Outside of school Kiera is a Junior Firefighter at American Hose Fire Co. #2.

After graduation, Kiera plans to enlist in the Air Force.

AUSTIN HYDOCK (MINERSVILLE AREA HIGH SCHOOL)


Austin is the son of Debra and Michael Hydock, Minersville. 

His school activities consist of: Academic League, Drama Club, Yearbook Committee, National Honor Society, SEAL Challenge Team, Gifted Program, member of Cross Country and Track & Field teams. Outside of school, Austin volunteers with Youth Track and Football.

After graduation, Austin plans to major in Computer Science.

GRACE BRENNAN (NATIVITY HIGH SCHOOL)

Grace Brennan is the daughter of Shannon and Jack Brennan of Lake Wynonah. Her school activities consist of National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball, Interact Club, International Club, and Student Ambassador.

She is a volunteer with the Green and Gold Booster Club events, Blood Drive as an Interact Officer, Basketball and Volleyball Little Girl Camps and Winter Clothing Drive.

After graduation, Grace plans to attend Florida Gulf Coast University to major in Marketing.

RYLIEGH SINKO (NATIVITY HIGH SCHOOL)

Ryliegh Sinko is the daughter of Maryrose and Jack Sinko of Minersville. Her school activities consist of Volleyball, Softball, National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Interact Club, International Club, Math Club, and Student Ambassador.

She is a volunteer with the Blood Drives, Volleyball Little Girl Camps, and Minersville Fish and Game.

After graduation, Ryliegh plans to attend Penn State University to major in Accounting and play on the Penn State Volleyball team.
